Tyrone Spong got revenge tonight at Glory 11 Chicago, stopping Nathan “Carnage” Corbett in the second round by TKO.
Spong and Corbett had previously met before in a fight that would have been ruled a KO victory for Corbett had it not been turned into a no-contest due in part to poor instructions from the referee.
There was no question of the result tonight. While Corbett kept the fight competitive, it was Spong who took control of the fight early, scoring a knock-down in round one. In round two, Spong continued to damage Corbett, knocking Corbett down twice to earn a TKO stoppage.
Corbett certainly did not disgrace himself tonight, he did his best, but Spong’s hands were devastating. Corbett can take a shot, but Spong’s punches were knocking Corbett silly. Spong has been putting in a lot of work with top professional boxing coach Pedro Diaz and the results are clearly paying off.
